Dark brown with tan head. Dry and malty, fruity start with bitter finish. Excellent.

Deep bitter black coffee flavour. As its name suggests, a Champion Ale.

Fantastic rich dark brown colour with a thick long lasting head with good lacing. Great malty chocolate aroma. Tastes is sweet and biscuity which is nicely balanced by a slightly bitter finish. This may be too much beer for some but I love it. This is one of my new favourites.

Stunning dark colour with a long lasting off-white head, but looks aren’t everything! Surprisingly light on the nose, malty & fruity, quite complex. Very smooth with a big full bodied palate, quite noticably sweet, but it’s a satisfying malty sweetness. Finish is remarkable, long and lingering. Rather liked this, cant say I particularly like other Mcewans ales in bottles, so this was a pleasant surprise.

Bottled; mild malty nose, pours with a large frothy head leaving moderate lacing, dark brown hue, strong malts, alcohol and fruits are present, full bodied with a touch of bitterness in the aftertaste. Pretty good stuff.

Dark, red-brown colour, reminicent of a brown ale. A nice smell, without being over pungent. Heaps of flavour, with a lovely, smooth finish. High strength combined with superb deep, malty flavour, make for a lovely drink.

It's a Scottish ale, with a high alcoholic content! Dark, sweet, sophisticated ale that makes you wonder how the same brewery can produce McEwans Lager! Very easy to drink, which, thanks to the 7.3%ABV, always leads to an early, fuzzy night. One of few British beers that have really caught my attention.

Clear amber with a decent head. What did it for me was the nice malt flavor. Some fruitiness, sweetness, and mild bitterness.
