Golden brown colour, head mostly lasting, a bit metallic in taste, not a particually good beer.

(Can) Ah, the famous red tin. Back in the 1980s, if you were offered a beer in a Scottish house, chances were the choice would be this or Tennants Lager. And in the remote Shetland Islands north of Scotland, they served cans of this in bars in place of draught beer. Thankfully, the local beer scene has improved considerably since then. Can’t say the same for the beer... It pours a handsome bronze colour with a tall pillowy head. Good head retention and lashings of lace. However, the aroma is metallic and off-putting. There’s some malt in there somewhere but it’s obscured by wet cardboard and tin. Nicely carbonated - smooth mouthfeel. Medium-bodied but desperately thin in flavour. Generally sweet and malty but with a harsh metallic finish. Bizarrely, the can features the words, "To copy it is forgery". Er, I wouldn’t worry too much about that, lads...

head lasted too long, it doesnt smell of much to begin with, but you have to spatula the head away or you wont get anything at all, a little sweet , melted sugar. little on the thin side and leaves a slightly nasty tingle on the tongue. Not something i would want to buy , but if you get it free from your parents like i did , take it to a party, its easy to drink.

Served in a pint glass at the Commercial Hotel, Dufftown, Scotland. A quite handsome beer from the tap.Clear chesnut brown with a nice frothy white head. Copious laceing left down the edges of the glass as it is drained. Very malty aroma so typical of Scottish beers. The tase is pleasing, well balanced of course the sweetness of the malts dominate but there are obvious signs of hops too near the end of the mouthful. Also a soft nuttiness, reminiscent of a brown ale. Pretty good on the palate, though on the thin side. A most drinkable session ale, fresh from the tap..I think this beer is underrated.

Can. Huge foam head which, fair does, has a yeasty aroma mingled with the tin. Initially quite metallic with unpleasant cardboard hops, then some boiled fruit notes come through. Caramel, tin, cardboard, gas, cheap boiled sweets - gee, this is an absolute wank of a beer. The treatment this beer has been given has ruined any possibility of it tasting any good. Fucking awful!

Nothing brilliant, but a decent standby if you can’t get real ale. One for watching football on the telly with a bag of chips.

A hazy red-brown beer with a small white head. The aroma is sweet with notes of caramel. The flavor is sweet with caramel notes in the middle, leading to a very dry hoppy end. Boring.
