The taste is dominated by roasted malts and caramel followed by a fruity aftertaste. It is very drinkable and can be taken all night. Ideal session beer and nice on it’s own. Try mixing this with a sweetheart stout to give a great version of a sweet black n tan. canary dog (443), Rutland, Vermont, USA

Better balanced that Sammy Smith. SS beers are too malt heavy. It’s sold in some bars here but not that nice on draught. An almost fruity beer. A quite handsome beer from the tap.Clear chesnut brown with a nice frothy white head. Copious laceing left down the edges of the glass as it is drained.
Very malty aroma so typical of Scottish beers.
The tase is pleasing, well balanced of course the sweetness of the malts dominate but there are obvious signs of hops too near the end of the mouthful. Also a soft nuttiness, reminiscent of a brown ale.
Pretty good on the palate, though on the thin side.
A most drinkable session ale, fresh from the tap..I think this beer is underrated.
