this beer is not my type of ipa. It reminds me of ’celebration ale’ but not nearly as good. Flat flavor for such a promising aroma.

A very boring IPA, in my opinion... a shame, since their Scotch ale is one of my favorites. Little smell, little flavor, other than some tingly hoppiness. Plain as hell. =(

(Bottled) Clear, dark amber color with a smallish, frothy and lacy head. Roasty, caramely-malty aroma. Burned-malty, smoky and earthy flavor with very little hops. Ashy, light to medium-bodied, quite carbonated palate. This one has nothing to do with IPAs, but it’s nevertheless a quite drinkable and pleasantly smoky brew. With more hops and body, it could even be enjoyable.

(Bottle) This is the darkes IPA I’ve ver seen. The head is 1-2-3-gone. Aroma is very malty and a bit like raisins.Tastes like sherry and malt but quite rounded and full. A bit too carbonated though. It lacks bitterness. No palate at all.

Pours a surprisingly brownish color with a little bit of a head that quickly goes away. Aroma is weak and hard to pin down... Taste is a bit watery. Floral and nut flavors come through (weakly) followed by a bit of acid and a little hoppy bitterness. It feels like an IPA light or something. Pleasant, but not quite on the mark.

Draft at Carolina Ale House. The draft must be much better than the bottled stuff. Deep brown pour...one of the brownest IPAs I’ve ever seen. Aroma of hops, corn flakes, chocolate, and tobacco. Tastes malty, hoppy, nutty with some fruit and chocolate in the finish. More of a nut brown than an IPA, but delicious regardless of how you categorize it.

The nose is of caramel and perhaps nuts. The pour is medium-dark amber brown with a diminishing offwhite head. This looks like a reddish Newcastle--you get the idea. The flavors are primarily caramel and woody, moldy, nuts in addition to a surprisingly mild but pleasant bitter in the end with a bit of a white grape juice tinge. The mouthfeel is better than watery, but not much. It ends rather dry.
