Body is very sweet, some watered down molasses seems to be going on also. Refreshing yet fairly bold. Fairly decent brew I must say. GermanBrews76 (667), Eugene, Oregon, USA
| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Oct 27, 2003 this is an underrated beer. I have found many novices that transist well to great beer with beers like this one. sure, its not what we have come to know (and love) about an IPA, but its a solid beer. bright copper/caramel body, small white head. light caramel nose with ekg's, fuggles, definitely euro style. not at all hoppy, but earthy, floral soft and bready. creamy and sweet, this is an inviting beer hopscotch (5537), Vero Beach, Florida, USA

This is the first Scottish Ale I ever tried. Had a bottle at a party around the age of sixteen. I Thought it was the strongest beer in existence at the time. It was before Sam Adams hit the stores near me. Enjoyed another today.
Malty, sticky sweet aroma. Vanilla and molasses notes.
Beautiful, sparkling crimson hue. Creamy, medium sized, tan head. Nice lacing.
Flavor of sweet malt with just a smidge of bitterness. Syrupy mouthfeel. Lively carbonation. Medium bodied. Smooth, short finish. Not the world's greatest scottish ale, but it's definitely worth a taste. Brings back some great memories for me too. caledonian (367), Ottawa, Ontario, Canada
| 2.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 11/20 | Oct 19, 2003 Canned. Hoppy aroma. Weak frothy head. Dark amber color. Bitter with a metalic tang. Overall, drinkable but I wouldn't go out of my way to seek it out. BrewEd (182), Wilmington, North Carolina, USA

| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Oct 13, 2003 Pale ale? When I think of pale, I think of light..this is dark like strong tea. Smelled and tasted like buttered toast. I thought it would have a very bitter brew, but it's pretty mellow. My first IPA and I like it. BBB63 (4271), La Porte, Indiana, USA
| 2.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 10/20 | Oct 9, 2003 Light copper hue with a frothy but disappearing head and little lace. The aroma is very floral and has a touch of roasted malt, apple, and grapefruit. The taste had bitter notes but smooth balance with malt presence. The finish was metallic and had some lingering bitterness. A hint of smoke also established during tasting. Thin body and the mouthfeel watery and fizzy. Not really a bold IPA, more sublime leaning towards a session pale ale. Quaffable but not one I would seek out. beerslayer (753), New Jersey, USA
| 2.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 2/5 | 5/10 | 2/5 | 10/20 | Oct 9, 2003 This Scottish ale is ok. Light in the hop dept. not much of a IPA . Finishes Clean and crisp.
