Reminds me very much like Newcastle Brown Ale...and it's a mess. Malty and slightly fryuty sweet. Some hop notes in finish. Bland finish. happy4hops (369), Bel Air, Maryland, USA

| 2.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 11/20 | Aug 17, 2003 This wasnt too bad for an IPA. Had it with fish and chips, and they went well together. The palate was boring until the end where there was a definate hop bite. Not really worth seeking out if you ask me. Libeerian (209), Garner, North Carolina, USA
| 2.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 4/5 | 5/10 | 2/5 | 11/20 | Aug 17, 2003 McEwans has a malty aroma and the low level carbonation typical of European ales. The hop/malt balance is too close to even for the style. Finish is fairly dry. EKGoldings (447), Radford, Virginia, USA
| 1.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 1/10 | 2/5 | 3/10 | 2/5 | 4/20 | Aug 7, 2003 Bottle. Nothing at all like the IPA style. This beer pours dark amber with little carbonation. Slight wort and hop aroma, taste is toffee, fruity, very very slight bitterness. No aroma hops to speak of. An OK beer by itself, but not with a label proclaiming IPA. | 2.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 4/10 | 3/5 | 4/10 | 2/5 | 8/20 | Aug 1, 2003 Aroma similar to red wine - sharp and fruity, but not really pleasant. Honey brown colour, head is thin but lacing is half decent. Light fruits in the flavour, slight hops. Unappealing aftertaste - similar to burning rubber. Yuck... wnp22 (682), Toronto (Roncesvalles Village), Ontario, Canada

The aroma brings a touch of chocolate, and the taste is most of all about malts as well. Quite a nice beer, but I miss the hops that usually shows in IPA:s...
