Kind of bland. The malts are mild, and the hops are nearly none existent. Very Bland. Not a US macro Swill but close. Mouthfeel is full. Finish is clean. Aftertaste is slightly bitter khayman70 (154), Indianapolis, Indiana, USA
| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 2/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Jan 14, 2003 Darker than most IPA’s. Decent aroma with hints of fruit. I prefer a bit more hops that this beer has to offer, but it was drinkable. There was an almost sweet finish, but not quite. Teases the tongue. uhorpheus (215), houston, Texas, USA
| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 3/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Jan 13, 2003 Dark amber beer, much darker than I usually expect from IPAs. Little to no head, but a rich fruity aroma. Very fruioty taste as well, almost a citrus or apple cider overtone. Not a very bitter brew, very light and sweet. Highly carbonated, not very thick. Smooth to drink, with an almost nutty aftertaste. Cartoonkhaki (1150), Brantford, Ontario, Canada
| 2.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 3/10 | 4/5 | 5/10 | 2/5 | 8/20 | Jan 11, 2003 Amber in colour, great looking head nice and pillowy. However the aroma is almost nonexistant and the flavour tastes like it has gone bad. Best till October 17th 2003 on the bottom of the can. Might be different from the bottle. | 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Jan 7, 2003 I think i prefer the scotch ale that these guys brew better then this one. There is nearly no head the color is an ok amber, aroma is of some weak hopping flavor, some maltiness nothing special at all.the feel was that of water mainly.I’m probably being overly generous in this rating but i’m going to give it the benefit of the doubt and let it go a little higher. i have to say one more thing there is absolutely no way this can be an IPA hell it wouldn"t be able to get past the horn of Africa without turning to crap how sad. joss (3688), Garching b. | 3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 11/20 | Jan 1, 2003 Bisquit aroma. Redbrown with a rocky head. Maltish notes, thin finish. Pleasant, but as so many have noted (and the style indicates)not an IPA. hvac4sl (31), Dowling, Michigan, USA
| 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 4/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 12/20 | Dec 30, 2002 If this beer were sent by boat to India, it would be skunked before they rounded Africa. No hops, faint malt aroma, which turns into a decent malty taste. No aftertaste. Very smooth and drinkable, I was just disappointed to learn that this was not an I.P.A. amx1970390 (466), Southampton, Pennsylvania, USA
| 2.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 2/5 | 4/10 | 2/5 | 9/20 | Dec 26, 2002 Hello! HOPS? Wheres the stinking hops? Another beer companies sad excuse for an IPA, if you can make an IPA thaht tastes like an IPA, then dont. Light coffee and brome sugar taste. If you would have given this to me and said "it a run of the mill scottish ale" I would have rated it high but it is an imposter.
