Thin on flavor and has a dry bitter finish with a not so plesant aftertaste (slightly vinegary). As everyone below says, this is not an IPA and not a beer that I would recommend. amosmoses99 (17), Canada

| 2.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 4/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 2/5 | 10/20 | Dec 20, 2002 Given that I knew this was actually a scottish ale and not an IPA when I bought it, I’ll go a little easier on it than some other raters. Very faint malt aroma. Amber red color, poor head retention. Kind of a watered down malt flavor, decent balance for a scottish ale. Similar to MacTarnahan’s Amber (another scottish ale that gets reemed b/c peolpe think its a different style). While its not as bad as some other ratings may indicate, at best it is a mediocre example of a scottish ale. grant (792), Long Beach, CA/Colorado Springs, Colorado, USA
| 1.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 1/10 | 3/5 | 2/10 | 2/5 | 4/20 | Dec 17, 2002 Gross. I have an inkling that I may have gotten a bad sample (draught). Smells like rice vinegar. Tastes like a plain ale with sake thrown in. Barely any hops here; how in the hell could this be called an IPA? I’ll try this again someday if I ever work up the courage. presario (2983), Calgary, Alberta, Canada

This is the only beer i have bought in a very long time that has actually made its way to the back of the fridge. Not bad enough to pour down the drain, but i bet the rest will sit there for a very long time. Crit (2405), New Westminster, British Columbia, Canada
