Very enjoyable. I wasn’t sure about this....at first. It pours really dark. I wanted something new, and I knew this would be a darker beer....but it doesn’t fill my mouth like other darks...it almost has a crisp taste...like a lager. Really crisp....Almost carbonated....but very sweet. You can taste and smell a caramel flavor immediately. I didn’t pick up on the chocolate, but there is sweetness here. I’m excited about this....the first glass went down smooth....I can’t wait to tap the other five!!

smells like caramel and malt. dark with a bit of head. tastes malty, heavy taste of alcohol honestly a bit reminiscent of the 40 high alcohol taste, sweet, and even one more time wow that is a heavy heavy alcohol taste.. not extremely sweet but enough to notice, slightly too much carbonation, i eventually did notice a slightly smoky "scotch whisky" flavour.. but its alright overall.. 8% and the price is a pretty ok deal sort of...

Holy cow did this beer surprise me. I wasn’t expecting much, but it really blew me away. Solid ale taste, sweetly malty, a bit toasty. Would have been better if it were a tad bit creamier on the palate, but I was very pleased. Having this after a Grolsch at a beer tasting event was a treat since the Grolsch didn’t please me at all. I’ll have to try this again by itself some time soon (if I can find it around here) and re-review.

The color and head promise richness that is fully delivered by the robust smoky Malt. A man could live on this for quite some time…or at least until his wife caught him.

On draft in Paris. Pours a clear and not too dark brown with a sweet fruity aroma. The taste is full-bodied sweet with a sticky mouthfeel. Sweet finish with a bit of alcohol shining through. Pretty good

This was an excellent scotch ale straight from the mother country. I’ve had beer friends afraid to have a go at it, but I think excellent rich flavor overall. It was not too boosy, which I was expecting, so that made it pleasant. The rich dark brown color, almost opaque, was beautiful to the gastronomic eye.

bottled, poured clear brown with nice tan head, sweet fruity aroma, mildly sweet flavor with a lot of heaviness in feel and in alcohol in the back of the mouth, as described there is a lingering sweet finish, not bad but i think this is a one bottle kind of drink.

Bottle at 3 Dollar Dewey’s in Portland - Poured a clear brown in color with an off-white and creamy head that settled thickly over the beer in the glass. Aroma was of roasted malts with a slight smoky sweetness. Flavor was also of roasted malts, slight chocolate and a mild hoppiness. Palate was more watery than I expected. Decent Scotch...
