Bottle. Almost opaque dark brown-red with a medium foamy mocha head. Average retention and good lacing. Aroma is toffee, sugar, toasted malt, dark fruits and alcohol. Flavor is toffee, molasses, spices, dark fruits, hops and alcohol. Medium body.

"Yummy aroma with its bold malt and sweet dark fruits and hints of alcohol. Nice looking off white head that has a short life and a dark ruby red body. This brew has tons of flavor that changes with every sip, dark malts, prunes, cherry, maybe small hints of coffee, and just maybe clove. Brew starts to take on red wine like qualities the warmer it gets. Brew is so dam tasty didn’t even really notice the 8% until it was too late. I will never hesitate to buy this again."

bottle. Poured opaque mahogany with creamy tan head. Sweet burnt molasses aroma. Thick and chewy texture. Syrupy sweet, burnt dates and roasted malt flavour. Definately not a beer I’d usually drink in June, I’m gonna save a couple for the fall (I hope they last).

Striking aroma keeps you perked with its bold malt and sweet candied dates scent - not like that tramp named Kandy you dated in high school. Decent light creme coloured head that has a short life. I swear I can chew out the flavour in this beer and I like that. Got a bitterness to go along with the malts. I like this stuff better after its been sitting in the glass for a while warming, but the longer it sits the more the alcohol eats away at the flavour. It’s a bit weak for mouthfeel, and the most recent batch seemed a little flatter than usual; but this beer is in my buying rotation.

Absolute gem. Purchased from ’cheap shop’ - BM Stores Hamilton. £4.29 for 6. Unexpected source. Wonderful dark, dark opaque colour. Peaty, smoky. (reminded me of a dry Irish stout). Sweetiness and fruit came through, but wonderful dry finish. Ace..

[1926-20081224] 355mL bottle. Mild graininess in the aroma with not much else. Clear, dark brown amber body with a long-lasting creamy light tan head. Burnt malt and maple syrup flavour has thick cask molasses. Medium-full body is quite thick. Smooth and boozy.

355 ml bottle from SAQ, not expensive, only 2,55$. The only international scotch ale available in Quebec (no wonder suicide rate is so high here...). Very good compared to what we can get from Quebec even from well-intentioned brewers, except for a very few. Discreet but appealing caramel aroma. Dominant caramel sweetness in the taste, with some peppery pleasant notes, and a slightly bitter finish, with combinations of spices, biiterness and sugary sweetnee striking back in the aftertaste. Very decent drink, it has been a great introduction to scotch ales for me.

341ml bottle. From notes. Poured dark brown with med brown head. Aroma is faint. Some prunes, raisins maybe. Taste is sweet, malty and prunes. Quite sweet. Not really my thing or maybe I’m not a Scotch Ale guy. Rating #67
