Interesting aroma - quite sweet, with a hint of apple. Flavour has lots of sweet caramel, more of the apple suggested by the aroma, some smokiness as it warms, and a hint of booze in the finish. Pretty nice stuff. MrBeer (276), Erie, Pennsylvania, USA

It had a nice dark brown appearance to it and it formed a nice dark head. Also has a nice strong finish to it that kept me wanting more. Overall a very nice beer. GRM (1279), Aylmer, Quebec, Canada

I was skeptical, but found this to be an outstanding and suprisingly strong ale. I look forward to trying other scotch ale labels for comparison! kreepindeth (405), Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, USA
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Feb 7, 2006 Tastes like molasses. Almost no flavors of alcohol, taste is deep and malty, but not much else going on. A bit too sweet and thin, but none the less, a decent beer. JRHBrew (218), Fredericton, New Brunswick, Canada

| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Jan 30, 2006 12 oz. Bottle. Pours a clear tawny red with an off white head and some lacing.
There is some roast and sweet malt in the nose with a slight hint of sourness.
The flavor is of sweet malt at first and thin goes into a dry roast like bite.
The texture is creamy but not as much as I remembered. In fact it is a little thin in body for a 8% beer which is a little scary.
Overall it is a nice beer that I will drink again but I’m not going to seek it out.
