Jan 27, 2006 bottle. Pours a nice deep dark brown with a small tan head. The head quickly disipates leaving a ring and some lacing. Aroma of nuts, malt and alcohol. Taste of malt and alcohol. I think the alcohol is a little too over powering in this beer.

Jan 24, 2006 A deep chestnut pour with a light off white head. The aroma greats you with a fine malty presentation, simple but not bad. The flavor was sweet malt & light molasses. Again, simple but well done. Medium body. A fair brew, nothing fancy.

Jan 23, 2006 Bottle. Poured a deep rich dark cherrwood brown with a medium tan head, good lacing. The aroma was overripe apple and malt. The flavor was quite sweet initially, with malt, candied apple, plum, brown butter, a bit of bitter hops and a warming alcohol finish. It definitely tasted more scotch-like as it warmed. Very thick and rich on the palate. Excellent beer, I’ll be buying this again.

Jan 14, 2006 Mahogany burgundy ale with a thick off white head. Butterscotch and coffee aroma. Sweet malt with barley sugar, light hops, persisting. Thick and oily bodied, smooth and effervescent. A classic. Tasted 28/01/05 at Institut Scotch Ale tasting.
