Jan 27, 2009 Bottle. Ruby red/brown in color, off-white head. Aroma of sweet cane sugar, toffee, somewhat fruity. It has a full body, a sweet sugary note and I agree with the soy sauce thing. It finishes warm with a sweet alcohol kick.

Jan 19, 2009 330 mL. Pours a clear ruby with a thin of-f-white head that settles down quickly. Aromas of toffee, caramel, Scotch malts, and some Worcestershire sauce. Taste is very sweet and malty with toffee and caramel and hints of soy sauce. Little too watery on the palate. 8% is nicely hidden. Overall I guess I’m just not a big fan of Scotch ales. I would stick to Belhaven Wee Heavy if my only choice was a Scotch ale.

Jan 6, 2009 Deep red-brown colour. Rich aroma of dried fruits and a scent of alcohol. Flavour is too sweet and the alcohol is too prominent in this beer.

Dec 29, 2008 Bottle....medium brown with just scattered off white bubbles....smells of sweet scotch mingled with delicate malts....taste is very similar to aroma yet sweeter...and with an added saltiness in the mid palate...lively slightly creamy body and a light boozy finish

Dec 22, 2008 6-pack from Total Wine, River Edge, NJ...bottle pours dark brown with an off-white head...smell is malty with dark fruits, raisin...taste is much of the same with a hint of cocoa...too sweet, kind of reminded me of a Grimbergen Double...cant say I liked it much.

Dec 18, 2008 Poured into a nonic. Clear mahogany with a thin ecru head that shrivels into a nebulous cap. Aroma is standard maltiness with a touch of smoke/peat. Not especially robust for an 8% beer. Flavor is molasses, toffee, pepper, and smoke. Alcohol is apparent but not in a bad way. Body is about medium thickness, that is to say, too thin for the style. Aroma and flavor are also too thin for the style. Wee unheavy?
