Stewed raisins pop out as well. The body is a rich dark brown and holds a tight tan head. Full of dark fruit and sweet malt. Mild nutty notes. Sweet, long, finish with hints of brown sugar. Nice beer on the whole.

| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Sep 2, 2005 Bottle. Discret aroma of malt caramel. Dark brown color with red reflection and tan head that goes off quickly. Taste of malt, caramel, scotch, little watery and good carbonation, medium bodied.
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Sep 1, 2005 Pours a body that is dark amber/brown. Almost opaque. Just a hint of light reaching through. Head is thick and foamy mocha colour, but dissolves fast. Aromas are roasted malts, some caramel essences, and a very mild smoke. Taste is sweet candy malts, caramel overtones, and the finish is sweet, smokey with some peat. Medium to full bodied. Medium carbonation. I always pass this by at the stores because I assumed to chalk it up to a crappy macro. I was wrong. A good scotch ale that could put a fight up against Robert The Bruce. amberale1 (16), Janesville, Wisconsin, USA

Appearance is very dark brown with a nice big off-white head and plenty of lacing. Flavor is chewy carmel, sweet butterscotch, and roasty chocolate all rolled up into one tasty scotch ale. Palate is creamy smooth. Overall a perfect example of the style. Nejhleader (930), Lemoyne, Pennsylvania, USA
