It’s very malty and slightly hoppy and perhaps a few notes of flower and fruit. The bitterness is moderate. I tasted this one as one of my first. Back then it was a woow sensation, but a re-rating collapsed my memory of it - and now it’s just plain ordinary... patrick767 (2033), fort wayne, Indiana, USA
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Nov 22, 2007 tap in a pub in Florence (or maybe it was Rome) - Maybe this beer is just better on tap in Italy than in the bottles as I thought it was quite good. It pours clear red with a one finger white head that sticks around and laces nicely. The aroma is caramel malt and the flavor is a moderately intense caramel malt with some roast character. It’s sweet and easy drinking with a little mild hops. Good session brew. Finally, I found a good Italian beer while I was there, though I didn’t know it was Italian.
