Caramel and notes of fruit on the nose. The flavor is caramel-malty with some fruityness, some bitterness towards the end. Quite dry. An easy drinkable beer that doesn’t add excitement to my world. 090822 shrubber85 (2934), Wallhalben, Germany
| 2.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 11/20 | Nov 13, 2009 Bottle. Strong buttery malt aroma. Copper color with moderate head. Initially strong acidity followed by a sweet buttery caramel malt flavor with a sharp grassy hops finish - thankfully the diacetyl doesn’t come out as strong with the taste as the aroma. Not bad. sound67 (215), Offenbach, Germany

Pours a clear copper with a small off-white head that disappears fairly quickly and leaves no lacing.
Pretty intense aroma of malt, caramel and a touch of sweet orchard fruit. Kind of boozy, actually.
Medium-bodied Irish ale with medium carbonation and slightly grainy, but ok mouth feel.
Flavour is dominated by bready malt, with a touch of citrusy hops. Finish is fairly bitter, dry and hoppy, with a lingering medium bitter after taste. Straightforward and unsubtle, but characterful in its own way, and superior in taste to the other Irish Reds I’ve tried so far (Kilkenny, O’Hara, Carlow). Highly sessionable and a good companion for light, spicy dishes. Will drink again.

Light taste, bready, lightly caramelly, slightly dusty/yeasty. There is a trace fruitiness in the background. Hops are present and not merely an afterthought, bat hardly impressive, providing just some bitterness (not the tastiest around). There are far far worse beers in Italy, and this is actually quite ok for one of their macros, though even they can do far better. Likable in a way, way better than, say, Kilkenny or O’Hara’s Red.

It poured clear brown to reddish body with big ocher head. Fine malty aroma, caramel with some herbal hops. Typical dryish Irish ale flavor, watery, slightly bready and caramel, while hops being felt more than it’s usual I think. Not so thin body as other examples of the style. Has longer bittersweet caramel finish, slightly alcoholic and acidic near the end. Not bad, it’s pretty pleasant beer. faroeviking (6119), BjórtjóðveldiðBjórheimBjórsins, Faroe Islands
