On tap at Florida Brewers Guild Fest 2007. Pours a deep copper with lasting tan head. Sweet malt and dark fruit aroma. Flavor is smooth and drinkable with semi sweet pine hops, roasted malts, dark fruit and a hint of maybe pale malts. Slight sense of the ABV.

12/02/06 Walk the Line Barleywine Festival, Dunedin, FL. 2001 vintage sample from a keg. Hazy amber color with tan head. First sense of the aroma seemed to be oak or vanilla. My second sniff didn’t pick that up at all. The aroma became more sweet malts and dark fruitiness. Really soft hop flavor with some malt sweetness and fruitiness. This one seems like it just recently passed its prime.

The 2000 sampled from a keg actually tasted a bit brighter with more assertive hoppiness and fruity cherry/grape flavor than the 2001.

The 1997 sampled from a keg had no head and almost no aroma. The flavor was nice though and I thought the best of the three. There was a toffee note that mixed well with the dark grape fruitiness and hops.

On tap @ 2007 Brewers Ball Tampa, Fl. Pours a dark hazy amber with a one finger tan head that lasts with good lacing. Tons of malt in the aroma with sweet caramel and a soft hop background. Taste is slightly sweet with a lot of malt and dark fruit. Good bitterness with a slight alcohol warm as it goes down. Not as offensive as other BW and quite enjoyable considering I don’t really enjoy most representations of this style.

On tap at McGuires in Destin FL. Nice reddish-brown hazy pour...nice off-white head. Nose is big malts, sweet toffee, light hops in there too. Tastes quite good, although not very deep on the complexity scale. Big sweet fruits in the taste, a lingering hop bitterness tries to add balance....nice alcohol kick too. A very quaffable b-wine....went great as the bottom layer of the Imperial Black & Tan. Looking forward to having this again!

Could you pick a longer name guys? The aroma is thick with tones of caramel and hops. The appearance is dark amber with a small head. The flavor is not overwhelming and is the right strength but less strong than most Barley Wines. The palate is smooth and the right thickness. This is one to try but is not exactly to form.

You should try this one if nothing else than the catchy name. On cask at Atlanta Cask Ale. Way malty for a barley wine and missing that bite and often times unpleasant sugariness that comes with bw’s. Very muddy deep red color. Quick on the finish and easy to drink.

I had the cask version of this at the Atlanta Cask Ale festival. The aroma is full of alcohol and old fruit. This is a fairly malty barleywine. The hops are present but play second fiddle. Despite thiat, this is still a relatively light-bodied and drinkable beer.

Sweet & malty with a nice hoppy undercurrent. Candylike nose, dark brown in color with a small, white head. Very smooth and rich. Nice.
