Commercial Description:
The pride of McGuire's! Our red ale was the first beer we brewed and remains our most popular. Beer gurus Michael Jackson and Fred Eckhardt have both praised its smooth and malty character. N.Brewer and Hallertau Hops are balanced by two row and caramel malts in our best selling ale.

FBG07. Nose is sour and malty. Some chocolate and coffee notes. Pours off-amber. Thin, but steady bubbly head with no lacing. Chocolate sweetness, sharp and spicy palate. Interesting balance.

The aroma has hops and sweet malt. The appearance is amber with a small head. The flavor is bitter, malty, and buttery. It definitely has biscuits. The palate is OK. Glad I tried this one.

Draft in Destin. A light amber color in the glass with a fizzy off-white head that produced light lacing. The aroma found subdued light malts. The flavor found malts, wood, some toastiness and light caramel. Light body and slightly watery. Toasty aftertaste.

Poured a golden color, not a lot of red, perhaps some amber. The lacing yielded throughout was fantastic. Flavor was full of caramel, somewhat sweet, with light toffee. By mid glass, this one turned a little more bitter (v. welcomed too), even picking up a rye type flavor. Hops finished with a zing, slightly bitter. Mouthfeel was heavy for the style, moderate overall. This one is up there with the Iron Hill and Smithwick’s Irish ales.

On tap at the joint itself. Basic copper-red color in the glass....bare minimum head. How unexciting is this....bland malt with some requisite hop bitterness....geez, nothing here. After letting it warm a bit the carmel malts came out and added a little to this ale. Still, very thin in the mouthfeel...seemed pretty cookie cutter style and was all about the name. No need to visit this one again.
