Commercial Description:
The pride of McGuire's! Our red ale was the first beer we brewed and remains our most popular. Beer gurus Michael Jackson and Fred Eckhardt have both praised its smooth and malty character. N.Brewer and Hallertau Hops are balanced by two row and caramel malts in our best selling ale.

On tap at the brewpub in Pensacola: poured light orange. No red in this one for some reason. Moderate white head. Mild caramel notes that is lightly sour. Mild maltiness too. Good.

This appeared more golden than I thought it should be. The aroma held mostly sweet malt. Teh flavor was malty and smokey with some pine bitterness.

Copper colored. No head at all. Kinda funky smell. I can’t place it...reminds me of the smell of trash bags left out in the sun for a summer. Decent hopt bite in the taste some mild caramel in there too. Very watery finish.

Pours a nice red amber color with a whiet head. Aroma has a hoppy scent to it and flavor is hoppy as well. Over all a nice irish ale.

Pensacola, FL More blonde than red, but I could see a hint of amber. Nice hoppy aroma and flavor but quite watery with a bitter aftertaste. I’m sure I’ll have another on my next visit to Mcguires.

This pours a clear amber golden color with little head. The nose is lightly fruity. The taste is more hoppy and bitter than malty, with a small bit of fruitiness that I will call "raspberry" for lack of a better description. Overall this beer has an average palate for the style and it is very drinkable. Don’t drink their stout or the porter beforehand because you’ll never taste this one.

almost flat tasting, and no body really. this one was not something i would want again, and i certainly hope their are much nicer brews in FLA than this. red color, not much malts or hops. sampled at brewgrass 04 on draught.

Quaffable, yet hearty - shares many characteristics with an ESB, at least as far as hop content goes, but there is a heep of caramel malt to make it nice, creamy and "meaty" - went great with my tuna steak.
