Commercial Description:
Ruby Chestnut in color and not as heavy as our stout. McGuire's porter will help what ales ya after a hard days work. Chocolate Malt balanced with Willamette Hops gives this full-bodied ale its smooth, distinct flavor.

Truly impressive brewpub fare. A very satisfying and roasty porter -- bitter and balanced. The palate was nearly perfect. Deep cola brown with little head. This was a fine pint to take in along with some pickled eggs and Irish fried chicken. The atmosphere of the bar is fun, and the beer makes it that much better. If you’re in Destin or Pensacola FL, and you love beer, then you’ll want to stop in for a few pints.

Pours a perfect clear amber with slightly creamy tan head and spotty. Spot on looking porter in my opinion. The beer is served up too cold so the aroma comes across as meek mustering up notes of mild roasty malts and a hint of dark fruity esters. Not much else in there to pick out. The taste is just like the aroma starting with highly roasted malts that approach burnt mixing with mild dark fruity esters like prunes and figs. Toward midway I get a ripe cherry fruitiness that builds up. The highly roasted maltiness heads off into the finish and well into the after taste. Not much in the way of porter like charred malts in this beer. Very tasty nonetheless.

Poured the usual brownish color with a nice head and nearly continuous lacing. The aroma and flavor were fairly one-dimensional: coffee. Certainly was enjoyable, but lacking any complexity. Roasted flavors came out to play at mid-glass, but not to any level of stunning-ness. A good but on par beer with others. Mouthfeel was moderate. A nice beer.

Growler, thanks to fishingnet for sharing! Poured dark brown with a thin brown head. Roasted nose with notes of coffee and nuts. Medium bodied with good carbonation and a creamy mouthfeel. Flavor is very nice roasted malt with a good chocolate presence. Finish is slightly dry with some lingering chocolate notes. Highly drinkable.

A typical Porter with some nice hops. Very dark, but not opaque. Nice taste, clean finish. A carbonated mouthfeel. It’s a nice example of the style.

This is nearly identical to their stout in every way, aside from the thinner body - I wouldn’t say it’s simply a watered-down version of the stout, but there is a particular quality to the beer that makes it seem a little too thin for a porter - quite roasty, perhaps a bit more chocolate than the stout - good, but not as tasty as its bigger brother.

For a micro porter - an "hit or miss" style in my opinion - this passes the test. What’s great about this one is that it pours a truly ruby color - very dark - but still ruby. The tast is certainly roasty, but it is also hoppy and rich with some caramel and maybe some of the red ale’s "raspberry" hops flavor. This is a good porter overall.
