nick76 (2634), Tampa, Florida, USA Mar 7, 2009 The aroma is peaty with malt, yeast, and a touch of smoke. The appearance is mahogany with a medium sized sudsy head. The flavor is like the aroma with plenty of peat and a touch of butterscotch. The palate is average. Overall it’s an interesting beer and worth a try. It’s alright. sebletitje (1880), Tampa, Florida, USA Mar 7, 2009 Tap FBGF.
Pours dark brown with beige head, and nice golden lacing.
Aroma got plenty of caramel malts and toffee light roastiness adds a small coffee touch to the aroma.
Taste, roasted malts, lots of candi sugar, licorice, and a ton of of sweetness for an almost butterscotch/strong toffee palate.
Liked this one a lot.

BeerHawk (1175), Huntsville, Alabama, USA Nov 19, 2006 Draft at Destin location. Copper color in the glass with an off-white, creamy head that left some lacing. The aroma found malts, wood, and a hint of alcohol. The flavor was of barrel wood and fruits. Medium to full body with a slight warming feeling. A nice after dinner sipper. lovelacm (48), Niceville, Florida, USA Mar 2, 2006 Seasonal brew from McGuire’s in Destin. Nice deep mahogany color with an extremely small white lace head. Very pleasant aroma - Very malty with some brown sugar and coffee. Full bodied flavor - Light sweetness continues with more coffee and some dark chocolate notes. Finishes with a bitter "twinge" of hops. Very tasty stuff. If only I could bring some home with me! Cheers! BrockLanders (747), Panama City, Florida, USA Mar 6, 2005 On tap at McGuires in Destin. Pours not quite as dark as their porter...tinges of a deep red are evident in the dark brown body. No head is evident in the glass. Nose is very roasty, earthy, peaty....lotsa malt goiing on here. Taste follows suit with a major dark roasty coffeish malt backbone, with some nice bitter hops to balance things. Medium bodied and smooth...light carbonation. Not as bitter in the finish as I expected, but still a very good porter...and the 7.2% abv was barely noticeable. Tasty.
