lightly hazy reddish copper in color, golden at the edges. fizzy up the center of the body. dense foamy head that sticks to the glass, aroma is yeast, very spicy - allspice?? also whisky, sour apple, orange peel, straw. very fizzy start, very dry and bitter too. spicy alcohol finish, mild aftertaste.

Marzipan, nutty, sweet aroma with some clovey spiciness. Opaque copper coloured with strong tan head, that covers generously. Very sharp and hoppy balanced by a pleasantly sweet citrus character. Strong carbonation and medium body. Perhaps just a bit too gassy. Bottle enjoyed with MartinT, muzzlehatch and Rastacouere.

Flour powder on the bottom perfumed by innocent citrusy, orange dust...Dry bitterness rises from the expansive frothy carbonation...Malt is strangely not able to talk yet apart from a few wild rice blurbs...Full of energy, perhaps too much so, but certainly not wise enough yet to entertain adult conversations...

Head is big, generous, off-white and leaving a well-laced 1-inch foam for long minutes. Body is cloudy, brownish orange, dark. Very appealing. Sweet aroma, apparently fluffy as a pillow, very earthy, hoppier than most bière de garde and less malty. Notes of spices, cloves.. Palate displays a dry musty fruitiness all the way through (orange), gets even drier as it evolves, very sharp. Complex finish hesitating between deep earthiness, cust and cement dryness. Huge overwhelming carbonation, medium body

Pours a clear deep copper with a big, thick, and puffy white head. Very malty caramel and candi sugar aroma. Body starts rich, sweet, and malty with some floral fruity sugars present. Nice complexity and very smooth, this hides its alcohol quite well. Somewhat one sided (malty), but very enjoyable and true to style. Thanks slob!

750ml bottle purchased at the brewey. Slightly hazy orange tinted ruby body. The head is medium with a few large bubbles disperesed amonsgt many tiny bubbles. The aroma is quite nice, hay, peaches, and maybe even some vanilla. The flavor is acidic up front then a malty sweetness, followed by herbs and then more acidity. Body is medium, the finish is dry and acidic. A very interesting beer, it is hard to believe that this comes froma small almost unknown brewery. Seek it out and try it, you will be rewarded.

June 04: 750 ml bottle. Translucent copper, huge medium-duration off-white head. Delicate but distinctive nose envelops you in enormous fluffy yeastiness, unsubtle rustic wine notes, butterscotch and oregano. Darker in flavor than most, low on the sweetness and very rich, with a very dry finish. Alcohol feels exactly right at 7%, the warming characteristic is just fine and the strong herbal presence and relatively high acidity make this a BDG that does not go down lightly, more power to it.

October 04, Biere de Garde and Various Oddments tasting, #5, with MartinT, Rastacouere and tiggmtl. Seems sharper and slightly nutty. Dropping original rating by .1 in the flavor, but basically not significantly different as an experience.
