The head could last a little longer. Slightly sweet with little bitterness. Very drinkable. DocLock (4648), Lower Pottsgrove, Pennsylvania, USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Aug 23, 2004 Pours blackish with medium, creamy white head. Aroma of malt, chocoff, and some cabernet. Tastes malty, with big chocoff, slight almonds, and a medium, very smooth roasty finish. A very nice stout. Eyedrinkale (3209), Astoria, New York, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 5/5 | 15/20 | Nov 22, 2004 Draft @ brewpub. Black color, somewhat of a head but nothing to speak of. Nice oat aroma and taste. Flavors blend nicely, tasted a bit more on the dry side than the sweet side, but oh well. Very solid brew indeed. Walt (2289), Chicago, Illinois, USA

| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 5/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 13/20 | Apr 20, 2004 Nitro. Labeled as Black Lab, but I think it is the same beer. Dark brown with a thick, brown head. Chocolate, coffee and a decent hop profile in the aroma. Nitro-smooth body which always helps the mouthfeel but hurts the flavor. A bit of bitterness in the finish from the roasted malt helps to balance the sweet chocolate. An average oatmeal stout. muzzlehatch (4427), Burlington, Vermont, USA
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | May 13, 2004 Sample at the brewpub. Black velvet, with a smallish lasting chocolate head. Light but distinct chocolate-espresso nose. Smooth, grapy-pruney flavors, full but not thick body, very light bitterness to finish, virtually no carbonation. Best of the samples I had.
