axilla (962), New Providence, Pennsylvania, USA Jan 6, 2008 Malvern location. Poured a dark but not completely opague brown body with a small brown head. The aroma is mostly dry, dark chocolate with some coffee notes. Flavor is mostly dark chocolate roast with some burnt notes and barely any cherry flavors until after the beer’s been sitting for a half hour or so. Even then, you really have to dig deep. Too thin. DeadGuyFrank (347), http://westchesterbeer.com, USA Aug 13, 2007 Updated: Aug 14, 2007First off, there are no hints of cherry or for that matter very much chocolate. Other than being misnamed, this should be their standard stout beer, by far and away better than their house stout beer. Nice and rich; the usual subtle hints of cocoa and dry flavors found in beers of this style.
McKenzie’s beers mostly have a serious case of sourness in their batches. It may be the only beer that avoids this McKenzie’s curse jcwattsrugger (5223), Florida and, New Jersey, USA May 10, 2007 on tap-pours a diminishing light brown head and black color. Aroma is dark malt-chocolate. Taste is dark malt-chocolate , faint hops. After taste is of that dark malt-chocolate transitions finally to coffee. Occasional. JFGrind (1346), Glenside, Pennsylvania, USA Apr 2, 2007 Sampled at the 2007 Brewers Plate; hearty sweet stout that’s roasted flavor dominated the cherry chocolate flavors. Poured rather flat....my first "Dude-less" beer from McKenzie’s. JB175 (1654), Bucks County, Pennsylvania, USA Mar 30, 2007 Updated: Apr 6, 2007Darker color with a sweet, cherry-chocolate aroma. Chewy-fruit flavor that lacks the "Stout flavor". Tastes a bit fake. An odd mix of flavors
