after4ever (1630), Brier, Washington, USA Mar 22, 2008 Draft at the Mill Creek brewpub. Slightly hazy copery medium amber with a fine, dense but shallow tan creamy head. Looks very inviting. Smells lightly fruity, sort of an anonymous orange or citrus note in there, along with some very mild diacetyl sweatiness. Nice crisp medium body, a little bit grainier (underattenuated?) than I expected. Some light brown bread and fairly generic fruit notes. This would be a pretty dandy little beer, whatever it is, if the flavors were more distinct and pronounced. The body has a great balance between ale forthrightness and lager cleanliness--it’s assertive but totally drinkable and easily sessionable. It’s probably more an integrale than a vienna, but that’s fine--I’d order it again, and this McMenamin’s is convenient. So cool.
