These small batch brewers are artists to say the least. I love mcmenamins so much I married the love of my life at kennedy school and we enjoyed all of the beers the had to offer that night, the next day, and every winter since.

Aroma is light malt and a bit of cascade hops. Flavor is bready malt with some alcohol on the finish along with a light hop bite. A pretty decent pale, but kind of uninteresting. | 2.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 2/5 | 10/20 | Oct 18, 2009 A hazy orange amber ale with a thin lacing off white head. In aroma, light caramel malt with faint c-hops, subdued. In mouth, surprisingly more intense than the aroma would suggest, intense hops attacks, dwindling in seconds, light malts, light and overall a bit boring. On tap at Six Arms, Seattle, Sept. 12 2009. dwyerpg (2553), Las Vegas, Nevada, USA
| 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Oct 3, 2009 A nice regularly-hopped aroma. A bit sweet. Almost Belgian with the sugar flavor. Nice beer, reminded be of dogfishhead. can8ianben (914), Pasadena, California, USA
| 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 11/20 | Sep 14, 2009 I was excited to see that cascade hops would be greeting me, but sad that they didn’t have a bigger presence. I liked their IPA a lot more. This one is more about the caramel malt and faint bitter notes than a big hop smack up front. thooper41 (393), Oregon, USA
| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 4/5 | 13/20 | Sep 11, 2009 On tap: Appearance is golden brown slightly amber with small off white head, aroma has a nice presence of floral hops, flavor not overly hoppy but it did have its presence, almost an IPA, very clean tasting nice amount of malt and hops. fakepurseninja (797), Washington, USA
| 3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Aug 13, 2009 Thin bready malt body, light pine. A little oily and astringent with minimal citrus and a peppery note on the finish. jimmbo123 (37), Washington, USA
| 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Jun 16, 2009 This is as good on tap as Arrogant Bastard is in a bottle. There are too many beers which seem to try miserably to be like this. This one gets it right. Lots of very good tasting hop flavor over a very good basic beer base.
By far my favorite beer from McMenamins. I usually don’t rate a beer if my rating would be more than 2 points below the average. josephselander (42), Salem, Oregon, USA
| 2.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 10/20 | May 30, 2009 Appearance – pours a dark amber in color with a small half a finger of head that disappears rather quickly. When held up to the light it turns a bright orange. This looks a tad bit dark for an APA.
Smell – Smells good, like a weak IPA. This has a strong hop smell up front with lots of caramel backing it up.
Taste – This is pretty dry and has an off-putting taste about it. The hops start off in full force, and as they begin to fade, the malt follows, with that unpleasant taste I mentioned before. Although as this beer warms up it becomes a hell of a more balanced and tasty beer.
Mouthfeel – Has a heavier than normal feel to it when it is in mouth, but feels lighter as it goes down my throat.
Drinkability – Pretty good beer, not the best by far though. It has an “I’m trying to be an IPA” feel to it that makes me just want to get an IPA.
