Commercial Description:
an American style golden ale made with choice midwestern 2 row barley malt. The addition of highly aromatic whole flower hops from the Pacific Northwest give this sparkling ale it's distinctive hop "nose". Fully aged and never filtered, this traditional bottle-conditioned ale may contain a small amount of sediment and must be kept refrigerated.

I can’t believe I haven’t rated this. A very decent blonde ale with enough of that "famous" McNeills’ hops.

2005 bottle from City Market. Sampled with MartinT on 4/16/05. Hazy pale-golden body with a good amount of white head, lacing and retention. Aroma has light grains, some perfume, a whiff of vanilla and then mostly grassy, moderately bitter hops. Flavor is quite hoppy and dry to start, with a typical pale malt to add backbone. Never getting sweet, this beer stays dry, peppery and hoppy. The carbonation is natural, however and the hops flavor is very strong, though not overdone. Bits of herbal notes, lots of grass and flowers. Light fruitiness as well, on the end. Still, I would like a bit more sweetness than this one has. Comes off very dry and lightly papery/astringent on the end. Medium-light body does not get watery, however.

The first McNeills beer that doesn’t amaze me. Golden blond color, very little head. The nose isn’t as big as I expected although it is quite nice. Slight sweetness, medium hoppy bitterness but very full floral flavour. Cheers!

Pungent grapefruit hop flavour. Hazy golden blonde with fair cover of large-bubbled, white head lasts nicely. Grapefruit, lemon, pine, herbal notes, fairly sour. Assertively bitter. Medium-light body is quite chalky and aggressively carbonated - very strong on the tongue. Not my cup of tea really. Bottle.

Bottle: Hazy golden color with tiny yeast particles suspended in it. Aroma: mild, hops, dough, yeast. Taste has citrus, lemon, hops, and is somewhat sour. Could be infected, will try again and re-rate.

Poured a hazy golden color with a small, white head. Doughy, malty, sweet (canned corn?) aroma. Nice citrus hoppiness, caramel, and a lemon citrus finish. Could be sour? though I still found this rather enjoyable.
