(Bottle). Sweet fruity aroma, like lemon cough drops. Cloudy golden color, small white head. Flavor is fruity, somewhat sweet, very mild. Lemony finish, with a slight bite of bitterness.

In short: Basic cereals, not much else. Somewhat bland but drinkable.
How: Tap at Vermont Brewers Festival 2008
The look: Partly cloudy golden blonde body topped by a short-lived white head
In long: Basic cereals with a little sugary note. Another of those beers where the malt profile reminds me of Corn Flakes™. Low on hops with only a some grassy notes in the end. This is an average entry level golden ale, nothing special. Drinkable in large quantities but rather forgettable. It’s got some qualities but it’s got some problems too. Blonde Bombshell… hmm… nice tits but kind of a fat ass really.

Hazy golden color with a small white head and nice lacing. Sweet and fruity, hop aroma. Sweet taste, hints of apricots and peaches, light hop bitterness. A very nice blonde.

Now this was some good beer , even though it is a blone ale. Peach color with huge head and lacing throughout. So very mellow hop taste. Said he won a bronze in 94 GABF. Bitter finish. Nicely done. Had this paired with Steamed Mussels with leeks and saffron.

I don’t know how to rate this beer. I just saw that it got added to the site. This is a very special brew for me. I used to drink A LOT of this stuff about 4-5 yrs ago. It was before the brewpub had the 22 oz bottles, and they brewed only their original 3 flavors in 6-packs: Champ Ale, Firehouse Amber, and Blonde Bombshell. This was one of my all-time favorite beers, long before any of the well-known ’bomber’ flavors came out. I would love to try this again, after all these years.

On tap at the pub. Typical light (cloudy) light golden color, with fast-dying head. Nose is super-caramel; buttery, sugary, whoa! No hops to speak of in the nose or the taste, at first, but a slight bitter character gradually forms to compete with the powerful buttered popcorn/caramel/butterscotch maltiness. Clean finish. Really excellent example of the style, wish I could’ve had another (its not bottled yet as far as I know). McNeills rocks!
