Orange-brown, opaque body that has plenty of yeast in suspension and a decent lasting head. Aggressively bitter with some sweet citrus fruitiness. Bitterness lasts on the back of the tongue. Coats the mouth. Smooth body and prickling mouthfeel. Overall this feels a bit harsh and rough and not very well-rounded. It does however get a 0.2 bonus when sampled with strong cheese. Bottle enjoyed with with Lubiere, MartinT, muzzlehatch and Rastacouere(8-3-7-3-15=3.6). Resampled on cask at the brewpub - Fresh, herbal and leafy hops. Earthy spicy apricots with a chocolate note. Assertive bitterness is never overwhelming. Full-feeling in the mouth. Very enjoyable (7-3-8-5-15=3.8) Rastacouere (5565), Montréal, Quebec, Canada

Worth a 3.6 22oz: Rather dark orange. Fine off-white foamy cover. Very original smell for an IPA. This is bolder than most, extremely earthy, spiney, a spiciness (lemonspice type) that made me think of Amarillo etc. Good grapefruit flavour is gently complemented by an oregano earthy agressive bitter finish, rather tart at that. Very fruity, yeastier than most also. Firm medium body, lively carbonated. Definitely worth a try. Eyedrinkale (3209), Astoria, New York, USA
| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Nov 1, 2004 Bottle opened same day I bought it from the brewery. Another amber beer in the never ending list of amber ales in Vermont. This pours from the bottle with a small head that settles into a thin white sheen. Aroma is more malt than hops. Taste isn’t as hoppy as I’d expect from McNeills but not too bad at all. Kevin (1920), Colorado, USA

| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Oct 18, 2004 Poured cloudy amber with rich white big head...smelled piney and floral...taste was quite generic for an East Coast IPA...very well balanced I think... | 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 5/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Oct 18, 2004 Big fluffy, billowing, clinging, creamy head on a cloudy red/brown body. Nice aroma, floral with a somewhat malty base (definitely more than other IPAs I had tonight). Good hopping and balanced, but with that restraint that characterizes the East Coast IPAs, the world between England and the West Coast. Lumpy (1802), Carrollton, Texas, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Oct 17, 2004 Bottle. First flavor notes detected are bready, yeasty, dry, with some good hops on the finish. A very good mild IPA. VTHopHead (936), Barre, Vermont, USA
| 3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Aug 22, 2004 Bottle - Hazy reddish amber with very little head. Bottle must have bee old because it had very little aroma. Some hopswith very faint malt. Appears to be well balanced. Flavor is somewhat subdued with some hops and very littel malt. I will have to try this one again later ... not very impressive...
