(Bottle 65 cl) Pours completely black and opaque with a dense, handsome, light brown head. Burned, malty aroma. Solid body, lightly vinous with accents of very hard roasted, coffeeish malt and a burned edge. Some alcohol and some aroma hops shine through. Extremely dry, burned finish. 070606 and 070907

Bottle. Black coloured with a beige head. Roasted aroma of coffeee and pine needles. Very roasted flavour of coffee, hops and pine needles. Very dry roasted finish. Too dry for me.

Black colored with a fast dying light brown head. Dominating sweet chocolate and roasted malt aroma with a good fruityness. Nice and full with a good balance. Weird flavor of hard roasted malt and vegetables. Quite harsh with some burned hay notes specially in the end. Started good, but something is not right in the finish. Hard to swallow from the extreme dryness. Very very odd.

Poured black with a small bown head and tan legs. Roasty aroma with notes of soy and chocolate. Thick and sweet aroma. The flavor didn’t live up to the aroma. A little bland at the start. then soy and roasted malt at the end. Dark fruit in the middle. Semi-dry with a moderate bitterness on the finish. Warming.

Noogfest 2006. There was a thin tan head topping the black body. The aroma was sweet chocolate with coffee and honey. There was also pancakes and tobacco. The taste was coffee with soybeans and some mushrooms. Very dark and dank, but nothing special for an impy.

The labels on McNeills look like they were printed with a dot matrix printer from 1986 using a black and white version of DOS Paint. Anyway a black appearance with virtually no head. The flavor is quite bitter with a sort of oily mouthfeel. The coffee flavors stand out in this beer. A little one-dimensional for an impy stout but a good beer nonetheless.

22-oz bottle. Pours opaque, a staining liquid, with a small to medium, thick, tan head, bubbly and frothy, some lined lacing. Aroma is floral hops, vinous, dark chocolate malt (toast, meal), caramel and cocoa, yeast (leather, bread). Heavily bitter, growing hoppy pine flavor, dark roasted chocolate malt, finish is metallic and hoppy, acidic, floral perfumey, coffee and alcohol. Dark and full bodied, dry palate.
