22 oz bottle. Completely black pour that swallows any light that dares enter. Thick creamy 1/2 inch chocolate brown head. Aroma of roasted and burnt malts, alcohol, and a yeasty dryness. Flavor is dominated by a dry burnt toast maltiness with a very dry and moderately bitter finish. Very little apparency of the alcohol. Some espresso and maybe a hint of lactose on the finish as well. Body is medium up front but a little thin on the finish. Very minimal carbonation, but that’s OK for an Imperial Stout. Finally a decent bottle from these guys! A pretty decent beer but nothing mind-blowing. Of everything that I’ve had from Mcneill’s (about 6) this is the pick.

22oz bottle acquired in trade with muzzlehatch (thanks!). Poured a dark, dark black with an averaged sized light brown head. Aromas of chocolate, roasted malts, smoke, tobacco, and caramel. Tastes of roasted malts, chocolate, light caramel, dark fruits, and ended in a light bitter coffee finish. Nice smooth body.

bomber from Phil, as part of our 3 way trade to obtain the coveted GL BA Blackout Stout from OhioDad, big thanks to both of you! dark black pour with a tan head. wonderful aroma of chocolate, roasted malts and more chocolate. flavor tended toward more of the dark pitted fruit and some coffee with the roasted malts and bittersweet chocolate taking a backseat. a somewhat dry finish, very close to being full-bodied and the alcohol was very well hidden. tasty brew!

2004 bomber. Enjoyed on the evening of Edward’s (brooklynboy) surprise tasting alongside 25 other highly rated stouts. Its been about a year since I last enjoyed this, and based on memory, I prefer this one fresh to the cellared. Unfortunately, I didn’t have any fresh ones to pour. A floral nose combined with some sweetness leads into a rich palate with roasted coffee, and surprsingly, quite a bit of green apple. There was a slighly annoying touch of sherry vinegar on the finish that didn’t complement the rest of the stout. Great stuff, a bit overrated.

22oz bottle via trade with Duane! - Thanks Duane! - Pours black witha mocha brown head that settles to a ring but laces the edges of the snifter on the way down the glass. Aroma is mostly roasted malt, some chocolate, coffee, and some dark fruits. Flavor is roasted malts but much dark bakers chocolate and coffee as well. Nice and somewhat bitter and dry on the finish. Palate is full bodied and smooth and creamy in the mouth.. full bodied not much carbonation.. Alcohol can’t be found.. This is a great Impy.. Very tasty..

Excellent impy stout. Pours black, brown lacing head. Flavor is more roasted than fuggles, although the hop does come out a bit, in a nice subtle way. Finish is dry and bitter, very enjoyable.

The aroma was roasty w/ hints of chocolate, coffee, and a slight dark fruit note. The flavor was coffee, roast, and slight chocolate. The beer poured an opaque color w/ brown thin head and lacing. The mouthfeel was full bodied, well-rounded, and aggressive.
