Poured black with a tan head. Aroma was awesome with a lot of roastiness and maybe a little oak to it. Probably one of my favorite aromas. Flavor was descent but couldnt hold up to the aroma. A little bitter and some sourness to it. Average body and and also some coffee notes. MullMan (1087), Bloomfield, New Jersey, USA

| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Feb 12, 2007 Bottle from goldtwins. Deep opaque brown-black body, thick, persistent, tight ochre head. Deep, rich roasted malts, with cocoa, coffee, and hints of smoke. Bold, bitter body emphasizes these characteristics, with just a touch of licorice. Nothing sweet or heavy, and the alcohol is subdued nicely. Compares favorably to St. Ambroise Oatmeal Stout and other top echelon roast-heavy stouts. An excellent change of pace.
