Black body with a medium size tan head. Enormously chocolatey nose. Fairly thick body, medium carb. Hugely chocolatey palate to go with the nose. Some roast and coffee, a little resin on the finish. Nice beer. frylock (1026), Buffalo, New York, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Sep 27, 2006 Bottle purchased at the Brattleboro co-op. Opaque body with a thin kahki head. Aroma of espresso beans, some light cocoa and a very light hint of cinnamon. Bitter, dark roast coffee dominates the flavor. Faint sweet cocoa flavors in the background. Finish is a bit short. Not bad by any means, but a rather blunt interpretation of the style. sersdf (1000), chicago, Illinois, USA

| 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Aug 19, 2006 totally full of yeast. funky sour aroma and taste. almost gives it a barrel-age flavor. roasty malts hidden behind the sourness. kind of gross. infected? not like any imperial stout i’ve had. nor should it be called one. madsberg (5065), Søborg, Denmark
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 5/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Jun 13, 2006 Bottled:Pitch black coloured. Dense brown head. Roasty and coffeish aroma with some chocolate notes. Flavour is a bit hard. Coffee and roast is there, but its very sharp and a bit unbalanced IMO. Sweetness and cocoa is detectable. LIght liqourice. Medium bodied. Has a light herbal and roasted bitterness in the end. Emil (6074), Copenhagen, Denmark

| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Jun 11, 2006 Bottle courtesy of muzzlehatch. Pours pitch black with a thick brown head. Spotty lacing. Aroma of dark roasted malt, medium roast coffee beans, and hardwood mulch. Initial flavor of unsweetened fudge, coffee, walnuts. The hops give this some mild peppery notes. This transitions into a dry and slightly astringent finish that is heavy on the burnt and roasted flavors. This was best at cellar temp. Not my ideal impy stout for my personal tastes, but still a well crafted beer and worth seeking out. My wife is a porter fan and non beer geek, but she really loved this beer. Too bad I can’t get it here. Ungstrup (15429), Frederiksberg, Denmark
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 5/5 | 6/10 | 4/5 | 13/20 | Jun 10, 2006 A pitch black beer with a dark brown head. The aroma is sweet with primary notes of chocolate, but also with light notes of coffee. The flavor is dry roasted - as dry as licking on a piece of wood, though a chocolate covere piece of wood, since it also has some chocolate notes. I find it a bit too dry - but still drinkable.
