| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Dec 6, 2006 Opens up very woody, with some tobacco and touches of pine in the aroma. Taste is similar, leaning heavily on the earthy qualities. Finishes mildly bitter and roasty. The "oldest" tasting old ale I’ve had. chef201atc (249), Weatherford, Texas, USA

| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Nov 9, 2006 2nd favorite old ale in the old ale blind tasting. Brought by Clark. Thanks! Pours a slight haze deep ruby with a nice thin lasting head. Aroma is mostly sweet caramel malts, nuts toasted nuts, some fruity esters and no oxidation- which was nice considering most others were loaded with it. A bit lighter in flavor than expected with notes of fruti, deep caramel malts, and a light chocolate malt nuttiness. Palate was a bit weak but had a decent afttertaste. | 3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | May 24, 2006 Another thanks to Dave for sharing the bottle! Poured a hazy, deep ruby-caramel with a short layer of white head. Flat, herbal front to the aroma.. chocolate and dark fruity malts followed.. seemed to miss something in the middle. Toasty caramel, rum-soaked dark fruit, and woodiness in the flavor.. good elements, but again seemed to miss somewhere. Lower carbonation felt a bit flat... with herbal bitterness surrounding the palate. I really like Old Ales.. but this didn’t much do it for me. | 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | May 22, 2006 Semi-hazed and cherry-almond-orange in color with a tannish-grey ice sheaf for the head. Cherry bubblegum and rubbery amaretto give the first aromatic inferences, pursued by mild cocoa runners, raspberry cream cheese danishes and ginger pistachios. Freesia, boysenberries and chocolate raspberry cordials register for flavor in a slight reductionary sense. Light, arid spruce cumbrance teams with a hazelnut and tree bark numbness. Graham cracker pie crust and amaretto sweetening that subtly seeped into the caramel chords. Light, enzyme titters on the palate, and a bit dry. Some bitterness, but not the malt bill you’d fill for an old ale. Dry, chafing finish with touches of sweet bitterness and amaretto toffee lozenges. Thanks for sharing, David! 1FastSTi (2580), Glendale, Wisconsin, USA
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | May 20, 2006 Thanks Dave. The beer pours to a very deep ruby red body with a thin white head. The aroma is weedy, woodsy, herbal. The flavor is woodsy, herbal, earthy, weedy. The palate is a touch woodsy. At times, a bit confusing and un-meshed beer. Needs more malt if you ask me.
