22oz bottle from Charles Street Liquors, Boston. Slightly murky mid brown colour. Not that dark. Straight from the fridge didn’t give up too much in the aroma. Opened up as it warmed a little. Mainly caramel with some nutty notes. Also nutty on the palate, with hints of smoky malt and some sweet fruit. Also a touch of chocolate and just a touch of licorice. Dabs of hops to provide some balance. Medium palate with a quite firm mouthfeel.. Not too sweet. This is not my favourite style but I thought this was rather good.

22 oz bottle. Pours a brown color with a 1/2" beige head. Aroma is malty with nuts. Palate is smooth and easy drinking. Flavor is malts, nuts and a little chocolate. Just a hint of hop bitterness in the finish.

Tap at Barcade: Hazy amber/brown pour with a dense off white film of head. Musty damp malt aroma- almost moldy with a caramel medium crystal malt character- not that clean. Rounded carbonation- very simple flavor. Sweet overall with a light buttery note (diacetyl) underneath caramel and later toasted flavors. Very simple and lacking malt nuance. Eh.

A decent brown, solid choco backbone with a malt supplement this brings forth the tenacity that a decent brown can have. Thats about it here though....

(Bottle). Somewhat sweet aroma, woodsy and spicy, with notes of chocolate. Cloudy orange brown body, fluffy tan head that laces nicely. Flavor is quite different for a brown ale, with more chocolate and earthy spices than you’d expect. Some nuttiness, as well. Finish is roasty with some bitterness.
