Nice aroma on this brew with notes of light roasted coffee, vanilla, oatmeal, and milk chocolate, with lighter hints of berry and citrus. Tangy hop flavors and roasted coffee tones are noted up front, some light chocolate in the middle, and a decent citric bitterness kicks back in late. Light to medium bodied, prickly carbonation, roasty, tangy finish. Nice easy drinking porter... 11026 (1799), Alabama, USA

Pours a very deep brown color with a light brown head which is initially dense and somewhat rocky towards the top. Great lacing is left behind. Very distinct coffee and over-roasted grain aroma. Bits of earthy hop also. Medium bodied. Nicely carbonated. Roasted grain and coffee dominate flavor, carbonation is mild and pleasant for this style. Suprisingly aggressive bitterness towards the finish. Quite well done.

| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Aug 1, 2005 Murky and translucent cherry brown in color with some fizzled cloisters for a head. Heavy roasted malts displayed in the aroma, along with molasses, dark chocolate, milk chocolate covered espresso beans and iced coffee. Much more flavorful than expected, introducing a dry room temperature, deep roasted coffee conjecture. Unsweetened confectionary chocolate interspersed with dark chocolate shavings. Roasted qualities reminiscent of unsalted, singed pecans. Medium bodied and thoroughly bitter throughout. Heroic toasty malts matched with an admirable IBU concentration. Finishes like dry coffee grinds. Pretty damn good. Thanks again, tpkenned! Firemoose15 (541), Bethlehem, Pennsylvania, USA

Poured black with a nice white head. The flavor, was I surprised, was great, roastiness of malts and coffee a hint of chocolate. Palate was light but nonetheless not disappointing. Overall a very enjoyable brew I’ll make sure the in-laws bring some more. NYHarvey (2154), New York, New York, USA
| 4.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 5/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 17/20 | Jul 20, 2005 Updated: Aug 1, 2005Cheers to Firemoose for sending this bottle. This is how porter is supposed to smell. Rich and roasty like premium coffee. Black with a finger thick, but diminishing white head. Yum. I’m sure this loses ratings for it’s thin palate, but taste wise this is spot on. More roasted coffee flavors and a touch of smokiness. An imminently sippable brew. Nicely done. Good drink on oppressive day, with lunch, thanks to Golorak. Simple, balanced, not too coffee, had a due date of January. If it was this year, its fine, and lasted time and the weather. Understated carbonation and well hopped, Smooth.
