Appearance: Black with a pancake coloured head. Aroma: Chocolate, smoke, malt, ’dust’ and coffee. Flavour: Liquorice, coffee, carbonation, tangy/bitter with a coffee finish. blankboy (3157), Toronto, Ontario, Canada Oct 30, 2008 Bottle (22oz) shared with HogTownHarry, garthicus, jerc & mabel -- courtesy of HogTownHarry. Pours a very dark brown with an average size semi-lasting light-brown head. Big-time coffee aroma with some chocolate, roasted malt and burnt wood. Flavour’s dry and roasty with coffee, some chocolate, light hops and wood. Dry finish. Overly carbonated. Medium bodied. Would be great if it weren’t so carbonated, as is it’s still pretty good. Ibrew2or3 (2714), Safety Harbor, Florida, USA Oct 27, 2008 Beer tasted at mcbackus tasting courtesy of daknole. Pours dark with two inch mocha head. The aroma is roasty, earthy, even has a mild zing of something off. The taste is the same with roasted malts moving toward burnt malts, coffee and chocolate malts to go along with some malt astringency in the finish. It gets more and more burnt into the finish with more ounces consumed and finishes feeling a bit watery.
