| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Jul 18, 2005 Beer has a chocolatey coffee -like aroma with fresh-baked bread undertones. Taste is exactly the same as the aroma, with coffee at the leading edge and chocolate at the back end. There is a little bit of a hot edge with this beer. Definitely tingly on the palate with a lingering coffee aftertaste. richlikebeer (832), Easton, Pennsylvania, USA
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 5/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Jul 18, 2005 bomber courtesy of captaincougar, pours a solid black, no highlights, topped with a soapy coffee colored head that laced the side of the glass. aromas of coffee, chocolate and toast/bread. flavors very much the same as the nose, but there is an odd sour tail and a hint of abv warmth. medium body, slightly chewey mouthfeel and a nice coffee flavor lingering behind. if it werent for that strange sour tail, i would have rated this at least .2 or.3 higher. | 4.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 5/5 | 8/10 | 5/5 | 16/20 | May 18, 2005 The aroma is smooth and creamy. Chocolate biscuits soaked in coffee and cream. Roasted malts with a bit of alcogol and spun sugar. Peaty dark earth and woody notes, too. Dark black unfiltered beer with thin creamy chocolatey tan lacing head. Chewy body with medium carbonation and little carbonic burn. Starts with a bit of chocolatey sweetness temoered with mild lactic tang and roasted bitter coffee sourness. Smoky component after that, with nice acidity and coffee flavor. The finish maintains that acidity and hint of roasted malt sweetness while more bitterness comes through. The after is medium bitter with coffee beans, bittersweet chocolate, and nutty tones. Nice stout. Shag (1923), Chattanooga, Tennessee, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | May 17, 2005 This beer was solid black with a large tan head. The aroma was charcoal and coffee. A rather light palate on this one but it had a good assortment of flavors. A very smokey and bitter coffee flavor. Well balanced not being overly bitter or sweet. Overall it was a pretty good beer. steerpike (28), Greenfield, Massachusetts, USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | May 11, 2005 Poured with a small light brown head, nicely laced. Totally opaque dark brown. Starts off lightly fruity with prunes then segues into a body full of roasty flavors - coffee and toasted marshmallow perhaps. An interesting, almost salty taste comes through also. Mouthfeel is full and creamy, as a good Irish stout should be. The name (Regin) is Ray McNeill’s full first name. A beer he should not be embarrassed to put his uncontracted name on. Poured a dark black color with a small brown head. Aromas and tastes of chocolate, smoke (heavier in the taste), roasted malts, and coffee. egajdzis (3644), Spring Mount, Pennsylvania, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Apr 24, 2005 Poured an opaque black color with a small tan head that left light lacing on the glass. Chocolate, roasted coffee beans and smoke are very much prevalent in both the aroma and the taste. Thanks hopdog!
