The aroma was carmel and malt. It was smooth but a bit watery. It was a nice drink but not in the top for Scottish Ales. Sregnar35 (730), Rotterdam, New York, USA
| 1.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 3/10 | 3/5 | 2/10 | 2/5 | 5/20 | Apr 2, 2008 Terrible. Poured a nice reddish brown with a good sized head. Aroma is faint but musty and sour. Beer was bad, tasted like vinegar, poor job. puboflyons (606), New Hampshire, USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Mar 23, 2008 From a 1 pint 6 fl. oz (US) bottle - hand brewed and individually bottled with a cheap glued on label that looked like someone designed it on a sketch pad. Carmelized in the kettle. Pours amber red with a beige puffy head that stays around for the session. Aroma of malts and some kind of fruity sweetness. The flavor was more of hops. It was a very good brew and probably hand delivered earlier that week to the bottle store in Vermont where I bought it. thornecb (1774), Marblehead, Massachusetts, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Jan 31, 2008 Pours bright mahogany into a tulip. Off-white pancake head has good retention. Roasted malt aromas. Flat caramel upfront with a crisp metallic finish. DocLock (4648), Lower Pottsgrove, Pennsylvania, USA
| 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Dec 23, 2006 Pours turbid deep brown, with aroma of caramel malt, some figgy fruit, slight banana and spicy floral notes. The aroma and flavor is a lot like Stone 666. It has more fruit than most scottish ales, with the heavy malt component. TheBeerLover (1019), DC Metro Area, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Apr 9, 2006 22oz bomber purchased at the brewery in Brattleboro, VT. Pours to a deep brown color, with a tan head that fades, and a soft to moderate amount of carbonation. The nose is sweet and malty with aromas of sweet malt, and toffee. The plate is slightly slick on the tongue, with flavors of sweet malt, caramel, treacle flavors, and light roast. This beer ends with more sweet malt toffee flavor and light roast, then finishes with a touch of hop bitterness, to cut the cloying nature of this beer, but it still lingers sweet. Very malty, very tasty beer. A bit cloying, but would make a nice desert beer, and makes for a nice winter brew, and a beer that would match well with hearty dishes. Pours brown with a tanish head that is lingering. When poured, the carbonation looked very lively and appealing. Smells of yogurt, sugar. Tastes nutty and chocolatey with some nice roasted malty qualities. Tastes more like a stout than a Scottish Ale. I have a few bombers of this one I’ll come back to to rerate.
