| 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Oct 16, 2003 This was a hearty brew to say the very least. A bit of spiciness pervades the aroma, with a flavor that is strikingly similar to gingerbread. Lots of clove and cinnamon, with a bit of doughy yeastiness invading the finish. Truly, not one of my favorites. aracauna (2387), Georgia, USA
| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Oct 13, 2003 The similarity between this and my homebrewed braggot are striking. The spice is big on the nose and upfront in the taste, but it fades instantly to a watery blandness by the middle. I wonder if this is a braggot as well since the flavor is so overwhelmingly similar. I do get a little honey out of this. I'd kind of like a bit more malt to support the spice and provide a little more flavor. SNIAT (120), Passaic, New Jersey, USA

| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 2/5 | 14/20 | Dec 11, 2002 A highly spiced and highly hopped brew with surprisingly mediocre body. Complex pumpkin pie spiciness but rather thin in the palate. Also, my 22 oz sample had very little carbonation. A beer that grows on you at room temperature. Not too bad. muzzlehatch (4427), Burlington, Vermont, USA
| 2.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 2/5 | 11/20 | Nov 30, 2002 12/14/01 Apple-juice color, not really what I expect from a ’Christmas’ brew, but McNeills is often unexpected. Strong aroma of the usual suspects for this style, though: cloves, nutmeg, licorice. Flavor is that of a spiced pale ale, but one that should be drunk warmer, to take an edge off the strong hoppiness and increase the subtle spice flavors. 2nd tasting (bottle, 2001): liked it a bit more, found the flavor more balanced; more accepting of the strong hoppingess. Not the brewer’s best, but worth a shot. 12/01/02 3rd try (2002 bottle) pumpkin pie spicing just as strong this year; flavor unfortunaltey seems to have dulled quite a bit. Uggh. This bottle is a faintly-spiced over-hopped dry dull-flavored pale ale, with little but aridity at the end and spices only faintly present before. Hope this was a bad bottle, but I’m going to have to rate it rather poorly for now. belgianhomebrew (646), Acworth, Georgia, USA
