Quake1028 (633), Tampa, Florida, USA Dec 19, 2007 12oz bottle courtesy of Degarth. Thanks Joe. Very dark brown/mahogany combination coming out of the glass. Smallish tan head with no retention and sloppy lacing. Does leave an outer ringing of foam once the head dies down. Nose of molasses, licorice, chocolate, coffee, pale malts and some musty notes. Sweet on the fore, with chocolate, molasses, maple syrup and dark malts being the main components. Back end brings some pale malts into play, as well as some adjunct type flavors, but they aren’t too bad. Thin- light medium bodied, not watery. Slightly creamy mouthfeel, could use some more heft to the body. Finish is almost non-existent, some bitter roasty notes and a short surge of sweetness, and then a flavor abyss. Unremarkable, uninspired, but not undrinkable. Mangino (1027), Mississippi, USA Dec 7, 2007 Apparently black color, small off white head. Lactose, vanilla and a little chocolate in the nose. Sweet smooth body, albeit watered down. Light chocolate and roast notes peek their head in towards the end. CaptainCougar (5379), Rockville, Maryland, USA Nov 19, 2007 Bottle sampled on 9/16/07: Pours a transparent dark mahogany with a nicely-lacing tan head. Aroma of lightly sweet dark caramel and chocolate malts with some drier doughy notes. Body starts fairly full with nice caramel malty sweetness toward a doughy milk chocolatey finish. A nice black and tan. n49921 (108), USA Oct 31, 2007 Bottle. Pours dark with a small white head. Aroma is a bit of chocolate. Taste is malty, with a liite body. Leaves a little bit of a bite in the aftertaste. Not bad. Not really much of a stout and not really a Schwarzbier. But not bad overall. kp (8400), Woodstock, Georgia, USA Sep 1, 2007 Name: Black and Tan

cazort (413), Newark, Delaware, USA Jun 27, 2007 Bottle. Aroma cream, lots of vanilla, not much of anything else. Tastes more like lager than stout. Since it says on the bottle 85% stout, 15% lager, this makes me think that whoever brewed this doesn’t have a clue how to make a stout. There is only a faint hint of roast. There is a tiny bite, a very mild bitterness, but not much else going on in the flavour. A tiny hint of sourness too. I agree with the other reviewer that pointed out that the texture of this beer is more interesting and balanced than the taste. The flavor and aroma are both weak. Tastes like a macro-brew. Arayaga2 (933), Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA Jun 2, 2007 Beautiful opaque brown black with a creamy head of medium size. Aroma is crude roasty malt, and nothing else. Taste is same with plenty of water. Still, mouthfeel is more substantial than either taste or aroma, and carbonation is practically perfect. $1.30/12oz Boliv (188), New York, USA Apr 30, 2007 On tap. Dark, small white head. Smooth and refreshing, malty flavors with caramel, slightly bitter finish. Nothing special.
