Deimos (78), Louisville, Kentucky, USA Dec 24, 2003 Not much aroma, forms a good head that dissipates quickly. the flavor is a little weak and watery, with not much of a finish.
dirtymike (2018), Manchester, New Hampshire, USA Dec 15, 2003 GABF '03 Brownish color,no real charcater of any kind, other than a bad stout that has been watered down. eraserhd10 (226), new haven, Connecticut, USA Dec 3, 2003 This is completely unnecessary. A black & tan, by its very nature, should be draught served. With each sip being a unique combination of stout or lager. This watery, faked version of the black and tan leaves much to be desired. Its initial aroma reminds me of a drunken uncle's bad breath. It had a thin and quickly vanishing head. Color is deep, dark brown. I found it very bland and unexciting. It actually tastes like a sub-standard lager mixed with a sub-standard stout! Volgon (2487), Manchester, New Hampshire, USA Oct 6, 2003 GABF 2003: Brown/black color without much head. Stale aroma, watery feel, weak cardboard ending. Dorwart (1807), Robbinsville, New Jersey, USA Sep 19, 2003 Thin head which dissapates quickly. Slightly sweet aroma of roasted malts and molasses. Color is a very nice deep mahogany red/black. Flavor is a little thin and sweet with more roasted malts. Finish is a little dry with a slight burnt aftertaste and a hint of coffee. An ok beer but i find if difficult that there is no category for black and tan and this falls under a stout. amx1970390 (466), Southampton, Pennsylvania, USA Sep 1, 2003 Very dark liquid, fine bubble head. Taste is watery, dark roasted malts with a sweet finish. Not worth seeking out. Bov (5403), Bienne, Switzerland Aug 25, 2003 I had this beer many years ago at one time when I was too lazy and stupid to write my thoughts. I will update this as soon as I get my hands on this beer again. bac080 (398), Boardman, Ohio, USA Aug 1, 2003 My dad buys this by the case. I still do not understand why. It's ok, but definately not what I would consider a stout.
