I had this beer many years ago at one time when I was too lazy and stupid to write my thoughts. I will update this as soon as I get my hands on this beer again.

12/15/2007: McSorley’s Black and Tan has a clear, deep mahogany color with ruby highlights and is topped by a thin and frothy tan-colored head. The aroma contains dark European malts, some slight fruit notes, and a hint of butterscotch. This beer is slightly dry and has a light molasses and chocolate flavor. Over all it goes down smoothly and is not bad.

12 fl. oz. bottle (85% stout, 15% lager). Rating #77 for this beer.

(bottle - 12 oz) Dark brown color with a minimal tan head. Aroma is very light and subtle with some roasted malt notes present. Flavor is lightly sweet at the start with some roasted malt notes but goes to a slightly fruity middle with a roasted and burnt malt finish. Watery.

a bit of spice anise pepper and licorice though the flavor is too weak. dark brown and flavor of malt with barely anything else it is a touch sweet though just sugary. finish is of root and not bad as well as appropriately bitter but again too weak. good when first sipped it lessens in interest as you continue. light and almost like a cola but still acceptable as i suppose good for winter.

Bottle. Pours a dark brown color with little head. Light, malty aroma. Some caramel as well. Roasted malt taste. A hint of vanilla in the flavor. Some caramel. Not bad.

Draft, just called dark at the nyc pub. Black body with a tan head. Sweet larger notes, light caramel body, very session-able with some light bready notes. Good brew

Easy drinker here! Bought something cheap, but above average to use in recipe. Pours dark brown with tan head, roasted flavor throughout. Very average brew, but better than many I’ve had!

Dark with a creamy head. Malty, sweet, and not much else in either the aroma of flavor. Smooth and really easy to drink, though. Not bad at all, but it’s just there.

On tap at McSorley’s old ale house. I am assuming this to be the "Dark". Got 2 mugs of about 1/2 dark brown, almost black beer and about 1/2 head. Mildly sweet, mildly roasted, light body and easy drinking. not bad.
