BEERGUY007 (206), Scotia, New York, USA Jan 4, 2008 Wow, really guys? I thought this one was great. I love black and tans, stouts/lagers and thought this one was great. Bottle, served at 50 degrees in an English Pint glass. Pours dark black with a little head. That’s probably the only thing I would have liked more of. I love a good beer that tastes great as well as looks great with those small tightly packed bubbles. Tastes of coffee and chocolate. Very smooth, good mouthfeel. Leaves a little lace. Very nice beer I thought. DrinkPlow99 (1), Columbia, Missouri, USA does not count Nov 28, 2002 It would seem some limp wristed wine drinkers have left a negative rateing and comments about Mcsorleys beer.I have to say go have a martini wienie. This beer is awsome!I’v been around and have tryed it all at one time or another. And this beer is hands down one of the best if not the best beer I’v ever had.The atmosphere is great at the Mcsorley in N.Y.C. allso. It brings you back to time when there was no juke box TVs or DJs.Its just you your pals and BEER.As far as the negative comments on the food I got one thing to say.WHAT IDIOT WOULD GO TO A STRAIT UP BEER BAR AND ORDER FOOD!!you deserve to get a crummy burger for buggin the staff to make one in the first place. These guys are there to serve beer, and a great on at that. brocker (99), Salina, Utah, USA Jan 13, 2005 Updated: Sep 24, 2006Pours a nice auburn color witth a good head.
Smells of roasted malt & hops.
Tastes as it smells. No surprises. Perfect carbonation.
A very smooth drink. Delicious.
On the back of the bottle they state - "...blends the rich heritage of olde New York with it’s legendary Irish spirit..."
Then I look at the bottom of the label and I read -

I don’t get it. Pinnhead (93), New Jersey, USA Jan 28, 2006 was simply not impressed with this beer. found it flat in flavor and I tried 2 to be sure. Pours lovely dark with a slight head but just not flavorful enough for me. karl (159), Glendale, New York, USA Nov 18, 2000 NJBeerman013 (764), Trenton, New Jersey, USA Jan 6, 2008 Bottle. This black and tan is probably one of my favorite bottled varieties. Smooth, creamy, malty, chocolatey. It’s everything that a good half and half should be. CaptainCougar (5379), Rockville, Maryland, USA Nov 19, 2007 Bottle sampled on 9/16/07: Pours a transparent dark mahogany with a nicely-lacing tan head. Aroma of lightly sweet dark caramel and chocolate malts with some drier doughy notes. Body starts fairly full with nice caramel malty sweetness toward a doughy milk chocolatey finish. A nice black and tan. Rciesla (3500), Exit 15W, New Jersey, USA Dec 25, 2008 Draft, just called dark at the nyc pub. Black body with a tan head. Sweet larger notes, light caramel body, very session-able with some light bready notes. Good brew
