| 2.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | May 2, 2003 I've had this beer on tap at the Maryland Renaissance Festival for the last 5 or 6 years running. Although it comes in a plastic
cup, it is still a good beer in my book. Pours out a dark brown color, with a tan colored head. The head doesn't last long
though. Sweet malt aroma up front, with a touch of grainy aroma also. Further analysis reveals a hoppy background, with a
fruity aroma as well. Tastes as good as it looks. Plenty of sweet maltiness, nice and smooth up front, and going down. It has a
pleasent aftertaste, sort of a molasses flavor happening here. Goes great with raw oysters on the half shell. A good example of
a black and tan, in my book. Mangino (1027), Mississippi, USA

Lactose, vanilla and a little chocolate in the nose. Sweet smooth body, albeit watered down. Light chocolate and roast notes peek their head in towards the end. BREWMUSKCLES (1079), New Jersey, USA

The aroma contains dark European malts, some slight fruit notes, and a hint of butterscotch. This beer is slightly dry and has a light molasses and chocolate flavor. Over all it goes down smoothly and is not bad.
12 fl. oz. bottle (85% stout, 15% lager). Rating #77 for this beer.

Pleasant aroma of sweet roasted malt. Flavor is a bit disappointing. Somewhat sweet with barely a hint of hops. Thin, almost watery mouthfeel. Lots of better options out there. bac080 (398), Boardman, Ohio, USA

It looked almost like a dark amber or maybe a maibock. Quite drinkable, but difficult to rate because it is just an odd mixture rather than an actual style. Not too much flavor, but a fairly nice malty, sweet finish. Confusing.
