Commercial Description:
Only available in 330ml bottles.
Porter style Ale. Chocolate and beer! Are we Mad? We’d rather say passionate. We marry the soothing flavour of this complex malt barley grist with a hint of dark chocolate. This is a beer for your more self-indulgent moments. Great for lazy afternoons or long evenings, it is best served chilled with your feet up, watching the sun go down. Like we say – chilled.
A silky-smooth suppertime beer, created using dark malts and chocolate. Pronounced vanilla notes fuse the chocolate and malts together to give a rich, warming, flavour that also works well as a complement to fruity desserts, summer puddings and autumn berries.

Bottle from Bert’s Bierhuis. Like the shape of the bottle, although it’s rather feminin. Smooth chocolate aroma. Taste is a bit of bitter chocolate, altough the chocolate disappears quite fast. I rather liked it.

Bottle. Pours muddy brown with a laced beige head. Chocolate liqueur in aroma and flavour with subtle vanilla and roast. Sweetish mouthfeel. More a dessert beer but would pair well with dark chocolate.

Pours dark brown with a off-white head that fades quickly. The nose is bittersweet chocolate with roasted malt and light hops. Taste is initially bitter, giving way to chocolate malt, hints of vanilla and lingering bittersweet chocolate. This one’s not as good as Young’s Double Chocolate Stout; It’s thin, and doesn’t drink like a porter...

Dark-brown with a minimal head. Aromas of chocolate, roasted malts. Some vanilla, coffee and molasses. Not a spectacular smell, and nothing unexpected, but still quite nice. The taste is very sweet and is dominated by chocolate flavors. Unfortunately, the chocolate doesn’t have that character of rich dark chocolate that some really good chocolate stouts showcase. Some dried fruit and raisins further accentuate the sweetness. Decent roasted malty backbone. Some vanilla. Faint salty notes. The finish is short and mildly bitter with more chocolate notes. The beer is not as full-bodied as I had expected and wanted. A rather strange combination of quite high levels of carbonation and a sticky texture. D: A good beer that is decent as a sipping beer. But it’s not fantastic and if you are willing to go up a few notches concerning ABV you can find way better chocolate stouts. But of course, this is just an English porter, far from the realm of imperial stouts. Serving type: bottle (Copy of old Beer Advocate review)

330ml bottle. Cola coloured with a medium tan head that settles quickly. Aroma of rich dark chocolate and burnt malt. Chocolate flavours dominate, it’s like eatiing a piece of old gold chocolate. Flavour lasts in the mouth.

Bottle: Presumably unclear, solid ruby-amber coloured, small persistent beige head; dry chocolatey nose with traces of caco powder, fruity notes in the background; dry bitter-sweet flavour, light bodied for a beer of 6.5%; dry fruity and solid chocolatey finish. Only good, not very well rounded.........
