Commercial Description:
Avaialable in 330ml bottles only.
May be known as Coffee Porter.
Our first formulation of this beer was the first UK brewed beer to carry the Fairtrade logo, and although we have reformulated it to create an even better blend better the malt and roast coffee flavours and can no longer get enough coffee in each bottle to qualify for Fairtrade status, we are still using the same Faitrade Araba Bourbon beans from Rwanda’s Abuhuzamugambi Co-operative. At the Meantime Brewing Co we love flavour, so it wasn’t exactly difficult for us to see how the scents and aromas of coffee and barley would create a perfect match like just like mint and lamb, toffee and banana, peaches and cream, peanut butter and jam. Serve lightly chilled with as many chocolate truffles as your conscience allows.

Bottle. Body-dark almandine with a very thick ring of bubbles and a medium film of bubbles. Nose-smoke, cigarettes, dry pressed coffee, melon. Taste-metal, watered down coffee, dirt, meaty, allspice, salt, light maple, a touch of unami, unsweet chocolate powder, good above average stout.

10/10/2008: Meantime Coffee Porter smells like a cup of mocha. There is a a good shot of rich black coffee accompanied by cocoa and dark chocolate notes. The appearance is clear, brown liquid (just like coffee) with a weak tan crown. The flavor is mostly roasty coffee (dark roast espresso) with cocoa and dark bitter chocolate. This medium-bodied beer is smooth and soft on the palate. Overall this beer lives up to my expectations but isn’t overly exciting, although most coffee beers aren’t since they are mostly just coffee, coffee, and more coffee with a bit of a beer edge...

11.2 fl. oz. bottle (Alc. 6.0% by Vol.; $3.75+tax) from Treats in Wiscasset, Maine. Rating #370 for this beer...

Really deep dark reddish brown color with white head. Roasted aroma of coffee and dark chocolite. Delicious coffee taste, but not very complex or interesting.

Pours a dark brown with a medium tan head. Aroma: dark roasted coffee, ground beans, strong bitter with some malt character. Flavour is not very rounded smooth and rich almost too much bitter beans and not enough dark malt and depth to balance.

Dark brown, bad break room coffee, coffee, coffee. Looked good, smelled good, but the taste and mouthfeel was contrary.

Pours clear deep brown with a hint of garnet in the light, with a hazy light tan head. The nose is smooth and mellow like iced coffee and malt. The flavor goes way more coffee grounds and bitter acidic finish. Disappointing.
