KAME (132), California, USA Jun 6, 2007 Bottle. Pours a dark brown with a thin tan head. Aroma is very roasty, and mainly composed of dry bitter coffee and baker’s chocolate. Flavour is much the same with much more chocolate and a bitter burn as it goes down. Texture is a little flat, and a bit oily, but I couldn’t imagine this with any more carbonation. Overall it’s actually not a bad brew, and would be a perfect companion to some vanilla ice cream.
DeadGuyFrank (326), http://westchesterbeer.com, USA Aug 19, 2008 A true rich bold roasted coffee flavor throughout. A very nice night cap beer, super coffee like, so if you dont care for that nevermind with this. On the other hand, if you are a coffee fanatic, try this! Pailhead (2310), Allen Park, Michigan, USA Aug 16, 2008 Bottle: The aroma has strong notes of burnt popcorn, roasted coffee, and faint chocolate. It pours a dark brown, but is more of a transparent garnet when held to the light. It has a large khaki head with great retention. The flavor starts with a nice dose of slightly sweet chocolate that turns to moderately roasted coffee finish. No notes of burnt popcorn in the flavor. Medium bodied with lively carbonation. I really like the flavor of the beer, but the burnt popcorn is an aroma killer. begbie100 (99), Oulu, Finland Aug 16, 2008 0,33l bottle. Light brown head. Very dark brown colour, oblique. Pleasant sweet aroma with rich coffee and chocolate. Flavour of coffee is very strong. Feels like this is borderline coffee-beer. Chocolate also follows. Pretty well balanced, maybe a little too much coffee. If there’s a beer suited for a dessert, this must be the one. lb4lb (1340), Austin, Texas, USA Aug 15, 2008 Pour is mostlyblack with some light brown shades and a medium light beige. Smell is coffee and roasty malt. Taste is similar with roasty malt and coffee, but with a mild cardboardy maltiness too. Bit too bubbly body for my preference, but still decent and nicely drinkable. Overall, not bad. bierkoning (4691), La Tropica, Netherlands Aug 12, 2008 Bottle. Deep dark brown color. Espresso and dark chocolate in the aroma. Thinnish, but with a firm roasty malt flavor. Sweetish with coffee and dark chocolate. Roasted bitter finish. Relatively easy drinker.
