Commercial Description:
Avaialable in 330ml bottles only.
May be known as Coffee Porter.
Our first formulation of this beer was the first UK brewed beer to carry the Fairtrade logo, and although we have reformulated it to create an even better blend better the malt and roast coffee flavours and can no longer get enough coffee in each bottle to qualify for Fairtrade status, we are still using the same Faitrade Araba Bourbon beans from Rwanda’s Abuhuzamugambi Co-operative. At the Meantime Brewing Co we love flavour, so it wasn’t exactly difficult for us to see how the scents and aromas of coffee and barley would create a perfect match like just like mint and lamb, toffee and banana, peaches and cream, peanut butter and jam. Serve lightly chilled with as many chocolate truffles as your conscience allows.

Nice looking bottle. Same for the beer. Pours clear, but pretty dark brown with a ruby hue when held to light. Sizeable creme head. Quite a bit of lace as it drops. Definite coffee on the nose, but not really in a hijacking way. Minor roasted tones over a seriously thick malty edge. Flavor is smokey and very nicely robust. Super smooth on the mouth. Very drinkable, though it might be even better to down if I was sitting by a fire with all the lights in the room off.

Taste7/8. Looks: Almost opaque black with a tan head. Aroma: Very aromatic. Toasted malt/wine/chocolate. Taste: Very rich and full bodied. Roast coffee. A little wine. Sticky.

Botte in London. Dark brown body, looks like toffee. Coffee and wheat nose, as well as caramel and chocolate. Vanilla comes through. Very rich and creamy. Toffee taste and sugary. Well done.

11.2 oz bottle. Pours brown with red highlights and has a large fizzy, rocky off white head that retains well and laces the glass.

The aroma is sweet chocolate, grains, lactose and lots of coffee.

The flavor is sweet chocolate malts with lots of roasted, slightly acidic (more so as it warms), coffee. It has a dry, slightly bitter finish. The mouthfeel is medium bodied with sharp carbonation.

Overall, a pleasant surprise. This is a nice coffee beer. Initially it’s a nice blend of sweet chocolate and coffee. As it warms, it becomes a little too acidic.

The head on this one is nice and tan and lasts a while. A bittersweet coffee aroma. The flavor at first hits your lips with the bitterness but as it goes down you get a lot more of the coffee flavor. The texture is slightly chalky and the finish is a little sweet. Finish is pretty quick. An interesting porter bordering on a coffee stout. It does look a lot better than it tastes unfortunately.

Definite cofee in the nose and aftertaste, hangs on the palate as well. A bit thin and watery though, but then again i’m not a fan of porters or coffee beer. It did look quite beautiful in the glass.
