martinboer (1308), Amsterdam, Netherlands Jul 14, 2008 On tap at Brew Wharf. Hoppy nose. Grassy taste, also honey. Really subtle and complex taste. Grassy with nice herb flavours. Enjoyable.
tashi (20), London, England Aug 16, 2008 On draught at the monkey place in Herne Hill. I’d never really got the idea of koelsch as a style before, but this one has a very nice malty flavour to it, definitely different from a pilsner. Maybe I should take that holiday in Duesseldorf after all. albertane (247), Nottingham, Nottinghamshire, England Jul 21, 2008 Bottled as Sainsbury’s TTD Cologne style lager. The aroma of this yellow fizzy beer is slightly fruity, and the flavour is pleasantly malty at first, but then develops a somewhat metallic aftertaste. Overall, it’s just bland and unremarkable. DruncanVeasey (1612), Burbage, Leicestershire, England Jul 6, 2008 Pale, slightly woody/nutty malt on snout, honeyish and lemony, a bit beeswaxy, Hint of spruce. Lightly citric in the mouth, some pine, fairly robust hop follow-through in finish. Lingers bitterly. Pretty authentic flavour-wise, just lacks some of the sparkle of the real thing. renffisch (406), london, Greater London, England May 11, 2008 draught at the union. aroma is a let down, paper and not much else. Straw yellow colour, good white head. Body of nettles, herbs, fruit and a lovely bitter dry finish. Good round well made kolsch.
